Hemp Oil vs. CBD Oil - What You Need to Know

When it comes to the terminology surrounding oil extracted from the hemp plant, there is a high level of confusion for many people. In this article, we will look at the differences between Hemp Oil and CBD Oil as well as the common uses of both.

What is Hemp Oil?

Hemp oil is oil that is extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant. This oil is made only utilizing industrial hemp cultivars. This type of oil has a very low cannabinoid content of both THC and CBD. On average, hemp oil contains less than 25 parts per million when it comes to cannabinoid concentration.

What is CBD Oil?

CBD Oil is oil that can be extracted from both the Hemp and Marijuana plants. CBD oil from hemp, however, drastically differs from CBD oil extracted from the Marijuana plant. Cannabidiol oil from hemp contains roughly 25 parts per million of CBD while CBD oil derived from the marijuana plant tends to be much more potent around 150,000 parts per million on average.

Cannabidiol oil from hemp is made utilizing the buds (flowers), stalks, and leaves of the hemp plant rather than the seeds. CBD oil from hemp is not produced using an industrial hemp cultivar either but one that is higher in CBD content.

What is Hemp Oil Used For?

Hemp oil is commonly utilized for cooking and in foods as it’s packed full of nutrients and essential amino acids. While it’s full of nutrients, many don’t consider hemp oil to be medicinal because of its low cannabinoid content. Hemp oil is also a great moisturizer and can be used to make eco-friendly paints, plastics, and even bio-diesel fuel.

What is CBD Oil Used For?

CBD Oil, on the other hand, is considered to be highly medicinal. There are countless anecdotal stories as well as medical research studies that have proven the efficiency of CBD oil in treating many different conditions. Some of the most common ailments that are addressed with CBD oil are as follows.

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Epilepsy
  • Cancer
  • Inflammatory Disorders
  • Neurodegenerative Disorders
  • Skin Conditions such as Psoriasis or Acne

We hope that this article helped you to understand the differences between hemp oil and CBD oil.
